about

A wee original chant of mine that turned into a song: Song to The West is a repetitive chant that calls for clear direction, a way through, a clearing, a forthrightness.

I remember standing in my bedroom in LA, facing each of the 4 directions one at a time and feeling into what melody wanted to be sung from each. For some reason, the West had a strong clear tune. This song is that melody.

Somewhere in the hidden chambers of my Soul, I've been calling pretty hard for a clear direction in my life. There has been so much noise in my head met with so much fatigue. And then bursts of stunning clarity offset by more fatigue. Perhaps some of you can relate.

It often feels like there's a thin veil in front of me and I can't get to the other side of it. What's true however, is that my music often comes from that part of me, from a core, delicate yet persistent heavy fatigue and fog that I've endured for many years. It is in the fatigue that I've been forced to slow down and actually listen to the songs in my body that are just waiting for me to notice them. As grueling as it is some days, lying there doing nothing can be an excellent remedy for artists who are going bonkers with how to move forward with their art:)

This song calls out from the fog, it calls to the exuberance and clarity of the heart, to the land where there is no knowing, just sound, to the new lands that are evolving inside and out, and to the soothing sounds of the Westward direction.
